Evaluating Thermal Comfort
Course Description
Thermal comfort continues to be a key concern for home buyers. This video examines four research projects that show this to be one of the main drivers for home renovations. Homeowners’ rate thermal comfort above energy efficiency in terms of priorities.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is responsible for developing the Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy standard (Standard 55). Updated in 2017, this standard is the authoritative voice for understanding how architecture, interior finishes and HVAC systems can affect an occupant’s comfort level.
This video leads participants through design calculations, how to evaluate enclosures and develop corrective measures to ensure that spaces are in compliance with this standard
