Fire Regulatory Considerations for Low-Rise Residential Buildings

Fire Regulatory

Course Description

Learn about the Part 9 regulatory requirements applicable to fire and life safety in low-rise residential buildings across British Columbia. This video explores building size limits, compartmentation, fire separations and firewalls, spatial separation, egress, and stair dimensions. Some of the regulatory requirements are challenging in their application, such as the spatial separation requirements relative to fire department response time. Others, such as stair dimensions, are likely to change in upcoming editions of the BC Building Code.
